WITHIN is a collaborative project developed by musician and sound artist Tarek Atoui, investigating how deafness can influence the way we understand sound performance, its space and instrumentation. For Bergen Assembly, nine new instruments that expand notions of listening beyond the aural fill the abandoned pools of Sentralbadet, and will be activated by different composers and performers during September 2016.
For WITHIN IV, the distinguished composer Gerhard Stäbler, known to audiences in Bergen through commissions for the Bergen International Festival (Festspillene), is joined by Bergen´s ensemble for contemporary music, BIT20. This performance of Stäbler’s commission will be a highlight for contemporary music lovers.
